No Stage Connected

Hi, looking for some help. I’ve read a few older threads with similar problems, but I’m guessing some people fixed it without following up.
I get “No stage connected”
I’ve got a pi4 with Sangaboard 0.5.5c.
On power up - I get 2 blue (Bright) / 2 Red (Bright) - Once booted 2 blue stay lit, TX goes a dull red, RX is off.

I’ve tried the terminal commands from other threads but I might be better of somebody could walk me through my own problem…..lol

Help?
Nigel

Which version of the OpenFlexure server are you using? The one from the website, v2.11, or the development v3.0.0-alpha from the thread on the Forum?

I downloaded Rasbian Openflexure straight from the site

Ok, so you are on 2.11.

That’ll be it!

(I’m not I the office, so couldn’t check properly. Sorry)

No problem, I am not in the office either.

This is the bit that ‘should just work’, and if you are on 2.11 we don’t have random new bugs in the development alpha to consider.

Is it a completely new build, or was this working before and now stopped working?

It’s a new build. It sounds like I maybe need to contact Labcrafter

You used your own SD card?

I have a couple of suggestions in the line of clutching at straws.

  1. Unplug and re-plug the Sangaboard from the Pi. Make sure that the pins all line up. It is possible to plug the Sangaboard in shifted across by one pin, but I don’t think that it then will fit in the drawer.

  2. Re-flash the server, preferably on a new SD card. Check that your SD card is designated A1 or A2. SD problems can cause all sorts of strange things. I think not this one, but maybe?

OK, Sangaboard definitely seated correctly tried a second rasp-pi and a second SD card - no change.
SD cards both sandisk ultra A1 - 32gb

EDIT: RMA’d - I’ll update if it was definitely faulty.

Sounds like the Sangaboard is missing firmware (or has corrupted firmware). The easiest way to check is to connect the Sangaboard to USB-C when not on the Pi, if the TX red LED stays on for more than a fraction of a second the Sangaboard is not correctly setting up the Serial communication which almost certainly means missing or corrupted firmware.

Edit: Corrected the LED state, correct state when not on Pi is RX on, TX off. RX should go off when placed on correctly configured Pi.

To close this off - Board was RMA’d and the replacement was plug and play - No problems.

Thanks very much for closing the loop. That is really helpful for everyone else! Also it’s good to hear LabCrafter got you sorted out.
