Season’s greetings, who here has bought assembly kit in Africa especially Southern Africa. I am exploring options.
We have not yet had anyone who has declared that they have built or used microscopes in Botswana (Where are you? (OFM location survey) - #100 by j.stirling). I gather that you are planning to do the printed parts yourself, so this is about the non-printed parts? Some of the vendors listed on the web site do ship parts internationally.
We have tried as far as possible to choose parts that are widely available. The Sangaboard is unfortunately a custom board as there is nothing suitable that is widely available. The condenser lens is widely produced as a commodity for OEMs, but can be harder to get in small quantities or from local suppliers. In your other posts you have mentioned malaria. This requires high resolution and careful attention to the illumination as well as to the objective, so you do need that high NA condenser lens.
Thanks for the feedback, yeah, I am looking for the non-printed parts.I went through the vendors, and the tlabs are cheaper than others. For the high res illumination, I have a meeting sometime this month with a lab at the University of Botswana, they wanna see how they can assist with the lenses
I am excited to share that I was able to order Sangaboard, OFMv7 Bag of Bits, OFMv7 Illumination Kit yesterday, cant keep calm
. I am now just trying to source some funds for the stepper motors
