How did I damage the sensor?

Hi all,

Through removing all other lenses, I deduced I damaged the sensor somehow but not really sure how. Would it have been static? Picture attached, I want to know so I can be more careful with the replacement thank you

So the camera is still recognised by the OpenFlexure software and gives a preview?
But the image is not your image, it has black-green bars across it?

That sounds as though you have performed a camera colour calibration when there was a slide in the microscope.

Which version of the OpenFlexure software are you using? Is it v2.10.1 - the current release on the main openflexure.org website?

Oh yeah I think your on to something with the calibration, I just reran it and change!!! Great news…… how do you calibrate it properly?

Thanks so much

Start with the illumination positioned but no slide on the stage.

Clear the previous calibration: in the settings tab, under Calibration (may be in a Camera sub-section, I have not got the software in front of me right now), click on the disable flat field correction button.
The camera preview should be smoothly varying but nonuniform. Yellowish in the centre probably, and pinkish towards the edges, also getting darker at the edges.

Adjust the illumination if needed. If the preview is much darker towards one side or towards one corner then you will need to adjust the position of the illumination dovetail on the illumination platform to centre it. This is a bit fiddly and does not need to be perfect. If the whole thing is too black or too saturated to be able to see the differences, use Auto Gain & Shutter Speed

When happy with the illumination, in the setup tab click Full Auto-Calibrate

Awesome, thanks so much William.

Makes me appreciate this excellent community and how much I have to learn!

Post an image if it works

It also highlights the need for a user manual and a quick-start guide. It is in the pipeline, we promise!

To go full circle on this, I replaced the sensor and that fixed the issue, not sure how it was buggered!
