Condenser lens focal length tolerance

Hi i am from india and have been facing trouble getting my hands on the condenser and doublet lenses required to build the high res microscope.

My main problem is with the condensor lens, i can’t find any 5mm condenser lens, either or the internet or through custom orders, the closest match i found was this

https://www.edmundoptics.com/p/127mm-dia-f05-nir-coated-molded-acrylic-aspheric-lens/2944/?srsltid=AfmBOoqLLwicoZ3WoMMLE_IMGkKeem0afUzQqcBXGwhKpjir_OhABuR-

everything matches except the efl is 6.4mm. Will this work? if so what all changes would i have to do and if not then what should i do to get thense lenses.

This is the doublet lens i am thinking of buying:

The condenser lens can be a little hard to find in small numbers. I assume you are not getting a Sangaboard, most of the vendors would also be able to supply the condenser lens.

The condenser matters a lot for the highest resolution with 60× to 100× objective lenses. If you are using the low-cost optics, or a lower magnification objective, then a longer focal length condenser would be fine. The specified type of lens has a thin flat flange around the edge; a lens without a flange will not mount well.

The tube lens needs to be an achromatic doublet. The optics module is calculated for a 50mm focal length, and a particular position of the effective lens plane inside the lens (giving a particular back focal distance). Slight differences, such as 50.8mm (2") focal length, should not make much difference. What it will mean is that the lens is not quite in the design position when the slide is in focus, and that is likely to very slightly effect whether the edges and centre of the field of view are in focus at the same time.

yeah i am using a 40x plan achromatic objective, so i hope the condenser lens would work

also yeah, i am not buying the sangaboard mainly because i couldn’t find a supplier in India. Would be great help if someone could tell me where i can get one otherwise I’ll implement the workaround

Some of the vendors do ship internationally. They are independent of the open source project, so you would need to look on their web pages or contact them to ask.

Hey Satvik, I am from Hyderabad, India. How far has your material sourcing reached? I am trying to find all the non-printable materials.
