First build, High Resolution and Low Cost OFM microscopes

Hello, I’m sharing some pictures of our OpenFlexure low-cost and high resolution microscope builds! Hope you like our monochrome orange microscopes :tangerine: :tangerine:

We used a Bambu Lab X1 Carbon 3D printer. In total we used 360g of orange PLA filament and 11g of black PLA filament. Total print time was around 12 hours.

Some images from prepared slides:

We also made the low-cost version and have been able to switch between the two versions pretty easily. Here is an image of the low-cost version as well:

It was a really fun build and the microscope images we captured were fantastic, especially with the high-resolution version. I used prepared slides to get started using the microscope quickly.

Thanks!

@jorodeo great builds! It is very nice to see images from the two optics versions side by side here. Is your high resolution lens 40x?

Thanks @WilliamW! Yes exactly, it’s the 40x lens. We used an Amscope 40X. We have also written up a short blog post about our build here if you want to check it out: Spotlight: Building an OpenFlexure Microscope.
